Much has been written about our Aikido's founder, Morihei Ueshiba.
Let me just to say that he was a great expert in combat-skills, a man who deeply desired self-improvement, with great ability for sacrifíce and in search for the universal truth.

All mese marvelous abilities combined in one man had to be such a powerful and a constant force in his life that he was able to understand the divine source and bring it to the physical level of this beautiful defense-art.

Every attack entrails a desire for aggression that will hurt and destroy balance and in addition, on a spiritual level, will move us further away from the divine energy. On this universal law lies the base for the martial art of Aikido, the search for balance before imbalance.

To achieve this under attack, the Aikidoka will have to transform the aggression to a defense without desire for destruction, with non-transmission of violence towards the attacker, to not continue the aggression or revenge and will therefore result in Harmony.

The practice of the techniques to achieve the necessary Harmony will have to be absent of physical force, which implicates a defensive aggressive statement and therefore is negative and leads to remoteness, where as the absence of force does not implicate weakness but on the contrary allows interior-energy to flow. (If we reach the understanding that energy is the raw material from which everything is generated) .

If we wouid be able to carry out these techniques allowing the universal energy to flow in all its fullness, we would be able to banish violence from ourselves and our surroundings. The search for this state in which universal energy flows within us full and complete and allows us to reach total harmony is, a daily struggle against setbacks, the effort, the sacrifíce of years of practice, of self-improvement, tenacity and a road of constant search.

The extent to which we devote ourselves will be the extent of what we receive. Everything in this world is designed for self-improvement; we just have to be aware and conscious of that before putting it into practice.

This is the Aikido we practice.
This is the Aikido as I have humbly inherited and perceived and which I pass on with all my respect and love.
